Please explain as clearly as possible your concerns: I live on 157th Street in Gardena right next/behind Target off of Van Ness. It's a pretty quiet street overall but there are a few people on the block that cause disruption now and then. There is a man who lives on the block, two buildings down from me heading towards Van Ness. If you are turning onto Van Ness, it would be on your left side of the street. He tends to walk the block at all times of the day and night. I know he doesn't have a job because I've seen him asking for money at the Ralphs on Van Ness and Redondo Beach, as well as at Target. Plus some of my neighbors said they know he doesn't work because he has said as much to them. He has been seen drinking in the middle of the street, making cars either go around him or waiting for him to move. He walks behind the apartment buildings, along the parking area/alley and hangouts there all times of day and night. He will walk up other complex walkways, (between the buildings) like he is looking to see who is/is not home. It's a very uncomfortable feeling, especially since I work at night and tend to get home about 10:30pm to see a random person just hanging out in front of my building when he doesn't even live there. My mother and I have waited in our cars at night for him to walk either back to his house or far enough away from our complex so we can go inside and not be harassed by him. It's like he is lurking in the shadows at night and then just out in the street and on the block during the day. I have spoken to my neighbors, some are females as well, and they say they feel uncomfortable with him around as well. I've also seen him when i come home on a Friday or Saturday night, as late as 3am walking the block looking in cars and walking in the back parking areas behind the apartment complexes. I've had my boyfriend walk me to my door several times when he is out there because I don't feel comfortable. No confrontations have happened but it's just really uncomfortable. I try to avoid him at all cost and make sure he doesn't know exactly where I live and what unit is mine. I think I would just like more surveillance on and around this block if possible. It can get very busy being next to Target. And there has been other suspicious activity by the parking lot wall of Target at all times of day and night. For a block full of apartments I know there are many people who live here and the ones i know and see daily are all nice and hard working people. But there are a few who do hangout on the block all day and night and it raises concern. I feel a little more driving the block by officers would help greatly. I've lived here for 3 years and this is the first time we've had this problem. I know officers drive up and down Van Ness, Redondo Beach Blvd and Grammercy because i see them and that is always a comfort. I just wish they would come down our block a little more often. Thank you for all you do!
